HDB Kitchen Renovation Cost Guide 2026: Real Prices from a Direct Carpenter
Every week, homeowners walk into our Jalan Kayu showroom and ask the same question: how much does a kitchen renovation actually cost in Singapore in 2026?
After completing over 2,500 kitchens across Singapore, here's what we can tell you β honestly.

What Affects the Price?
1. Cabinet material β E0 melamine board is standard and durable. Solid wood adds 30β50% to your cabinet cost. Lacquer finishes sit in between.
2. Countertop choice β Quartz is the most popular in Singapore for its balance of durability and price ($300β$600/linear metre). Sintered stone is premium ($600β$1,200/linear metre). Marble is beautiful but high-maintenance.
3. L-shape vs straight vs island β An L-shape kitchen uses more material than a straight run. Adding an island adds $5,000β$15,000 depending on size and material.
4. Appliances β Built-in hob, hood, oven, and refrigerator space all affect carpentry complexity. We design around your appliances or help you select them.
5. Direct carpenter vs ID firm β Going direct like HOBI typically saves 20β35% compared to hiring an interior design firm that subcontracts the carpentry work. You're paying for the same craftsmanship without the agency layer.
Why Are Some Quotes So Much Cheaper?
If you've received a quote for $8,000β$10,000 for a full HDB kitchen, be cautious. At that price point, compromises are almost always made β thinner boards, cheaper hinges, minimal edge banding, or labour that rushes through installation.
Carpentry is a long-term investment. A well-built kitchen should last 15β20 years. Cheap carpentry often needs remedial work within 3β5 years.
